| WOODCRAFT
The
Ginkgo design is seen in woodcraft in the past and present. The Ginkgo
wood itself is used for works of art.

GINKGO ART & DESIGN IN THE 20TH CENTURY
After the Second World War a revival of the use of the Ginkgo motif by artists took place caused by the Hiroshima Ginkgo and its symbolic meaning. The Ginkgo motif also appeared more or less artful in advertisements.
'Fujisawa,
Hitori-icho' ( a large Ginkgo tree at Fujisawa) by Shiko Munakata,
Japan
The famous porcelain
factory of Meissen in Germany uses the Ginkgo design on tea, coffee-
and dinner sets and so on.
'Täu
- 2' (dew - 2) by Atsuko Kato, Germany, 1990
Today (folk)artists
in several countries use the Ginkgo as a motif for their work, also in
photography, film and music. They are inspired by the tree, the shape of
its leaves (for instance Ginkgo Pictures by Gilbert
& George), its history, Goethe's poem and its symbolic meaning.
'Ode
to the Ginkgo', two columns with a circle of 13 Ginkgo trees
by Nout Visser, the Netherlands, 1991
In the 21st century
the internet has become a new source of information and inspiration for
a large public, for instance my homepage!
